DOROTHY STEPS INTO TECHNICOLOR

Dorothy Steps Into Technicolor is a short film created by me as my final project for my master's degree in motion design, using Cinema 4D software.

I had to provide a commercial justification for my project, so I came up with the idea of creating an advertisement for Filmin, a Spanish subscription-based video-on-demand streaming service.

Original storyboard (some pieces were removed in the final version)
The creative concept: The creative concept for this project was inspired by my love for The Wizard of Oz. I must have watched it a couple dozen times in my life, ever since my dad used to play it for me when I was little.

I remember being particularly struck by the moment when Dorothy crosses the threshold from the black-and-white world of Kansas into the vibrant colors of Oz. That was the moment I fell in love with the movies.

Animation techniques: I used Cinema 4D and After Effects in this project. I'm not a big fan of photorealism, so I decided to use Sketch and Toon, an effect that can be found in the standard render engine of Cinema 4D. This helped me achieve a cartoon-like look for my project.
