The brief for this project was to follow on from the title of my dissertation ‘How sensory perceptions can influence product design for the sensory impaired’. I therefore decided to focus specifically on elderly/visually impaired users. I have also considered design for all (Universal design) throughout the design process.
I have designed a product for the target audience in the form of a food tray which can be either microwaveable or oven cooked for quality quick meals (ready meals) in the care home to allow for ease of preparation for the carer and to provide a user friendly experience for the user. The objective of this project is to develop a product that in turn was discovered through research into existing products already on the market as well as user experiences, opinions and testing.
