Two filmmakers from Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Brett Gieseke and Kevin Meiring, have made it to the semi-finals of the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl Competition. This is the first year that the competition was open to the international community. The South African filmmakers’ entry, ‘Doritos Peacekeeper’, was based on the brand’s slogan “For the Bold” and takes place in space. It was the only South African or African entry to have made it into the top 25. From these semi-finalists, five entries were chosen and the top two adverts were aired during the 2014 Super Bowl in the United States. Ttheir entry was the result of “a month of brainstorming and pursuing different directions”. “We finally decided to go with the ‘peace offering’ concept. By then we had two days to film and edit the advert. With just the two of us, a makeshift green screen and a Canon 5D, we completed the advert with only a few hours to spare.” Read Less
