This project focuses on the effects proportion and scale can have on a design. Adjusting these elements to the slightest degree can completely change the aesthetic of a design, from a simple form to an entire space. Starting with a basic elliptical shape, I sanded and sculpted various pieces of basswood in order to show the transformation of a solid structure into thin planes. Inspired by the movement and cyble of a blooming flower, I translated those characteristics into my model, creating a closed to open motion in order to enhance the conversion of shape and proportion.
