OnAqua is a project that was chosen to be in the top 100 of the Electrolux DesignLab 2013.
This steam iron is designed to make ironing effortless and has the form of a hanger so it’s easier to store and hide. It has three basic parts: the hook, the hanger and the motor, it also comes with a knob for the wall, able to be hidden, to connected onto the water pipes for an automatic filling, since it’s powered by water.

The hook is attached to a tank, both made out of reflective glass, but the tank is tactile glass so the buttons can be placed on it. These buttons are: the play button to engage the iron, the pause button to interrupt temporarily the operation, a stop button to interrupt the action completely and a level button to introduce the level of creased, we also find a timer and a hole to fill up the tank manually. On the hook itself we can also find a perforation to let in the water from the knob on the wall.

The hanger is made of an intelligent material capable to adapt its form to the item placed on it. It has a pattern drawn on it that includes diffusors to distribute the steam regularly on to the cloth. Once the task is finished it takes its original form.

The motor, placed between these two parts, is made with nanotechnology. Its task is to convert the water into steam and conduct it to the diffusors, maintain the intelligent material warm enough so the water doesn’t condense, light up the buttons and to soak up the water from the pipes.
You will only need to hang your cloth and press play.
