Deformed Vase
Craft has slowly integrated digital technologies and we're seeing less and less the human aspect to this industry. Therefore, in an attempt to visualize this human aspect to digital craftmanship, we 3D modelled a hand interaction into the vase. After modelling on Rhino3D, we 3D printed the vase with clay and PLA. Below are the results of this investigation.
Learnings
1. The use of CageEdit was the most useful tool in adding artificial hand interactions to the vase.
2. Tweaking the pattern to apply to the surface bit by bit played a big role in making the squeezing motion more realistic.
3. Printing the vase open-ended and just trying to send it to print was more useful for our time rather than perfecting the file.
