San Diego Writers, Ink

San Diego Writer’s, Ink is a non-profit organization focused on literature and encouraging others to read. They offer various things including classes and readings. This project was focused on making a poster for an event they were having, the Fall for Writing Conference. The first step was to explore various words for logotype options. Based on those, we selected our best one, refined it more, and finalized the logotype for the poster. These words were from a poem, which we were to use for the text in our poster.

My word was “weave,” from Digital by Brian Thedell. The poem is about opposites attracting, specifically about a man who describes a woman as perfect in every way while he is broken, but somehow they are drawn to each other and “harmonize” together. In my poster, I portrayed the logotype word, weave, by weaving the text and callouts together. I portrayed the idea of opposites through the complementary colors, which are themselves opposites that attract and work perfectly together.
