Maasika

People do talk about the goddess menstrual cycle, and the devotional practises of Indian devotees to Devi Kamakhya. Oddly, India also has numerous taboos associated with menstruation. The societal absurdity of treating menstruation as a taboo is exposed when you note that there aren't many temples in India that honour, celebrate, and exalt menstruation as a symbol of immense power. In India, getting your period is still frowned upon. As a result, socio-cultural life is hampered, and women are particularly impacted.
A woman has to deal with a bunch of restrictions, on a daily basis. Women are prohibited from participating in religious observances such as offering prayers or touching holy objects. It is looked upon to talk about one's menstrual period in public because it is regarded as embarrassing. Instead, it is important to respect menstruation as a sign that women have the capacity to create and give birth. This cannot be true.
There are several theories on why this power or "shakti" in every woman is celebrated in Kamakhya and its temple. The Movie puts a light on the duality of our society, the contrasting treatment, where we worship and celebrate the bleeding Shakti whereas on a regular basis women are treated differently while they are menstruating.
