Hand Painted One of One Bottles for Grammy Nominee's

As a surprise, Bacardi not only asked Carlitos to make a one of one bottle for Bad Bunny, but for another 3 artist from different genres. One being Brazil’s latest upcoming female artist, Anita. One of the worlds most famous electronic DJ, Diplo, and one of the most famous producers and songwriter for artists like Drake, Beyonce, and Travis Scott, Boi-1da.
The goal was to create a one of a kind bottle for each artist, personalized for them and the album for which they were  nominated for. It was very daring because the team didn’t have much background knowledge on these artists, so the Skills team and Carlitos researched the evolution of these 3 different artists. By finding out more of the background and upbringing of these artists, allowed Carlitos to make a more aesthetic, attractive piece.
Each bottle took Carlitos 3-4 days to complete, as the bottles had very small intricate details. As this being Carlitos first time painting glass, he was very satisfied with the outcome.
“By doing research on Anita, I found different photos from her career and created 1 portrait out of a collage of photos. On this bottle I emphasized a lot of her culture, such as Brazil’s flag, colors, and flowers. By combining all these different elements and adding my style to it, I painted a fun composition that’s attractive but overall screams Anitta.”

“By being from an island in the Caribbean, I could relate with Boi-1da. By researching his story, and background, knowing how hard it is for people to becomes citizens, I painted his portrait big on the bottle. I used different colors from Jamaica but not leaving out the city that adopted him, Toronto, Canada. Which is why I included Canadian elements like the maple leaves. I painted an owl which represents his loyalty to Drake, and also added a horse with a spiked crown representing Beyonce and Kendrick Lamars albums.”

What really intrigued me about Diplo was his urban cowboy style, I emphasized his “countriness” but also did a colorful, outgoing, fun composition, just like his style of music. When reading his story I learned that he was was born in Mississippi and studied in Tennessee, which Is why I added elements from those 2 different states. I wanted this bottle to have some clear spots throughout so the light can shine through different parts and reflect inside the bottle as this resembles electronic music.”
