Gulliver's Travels Book Covers

Gulliver's Travels Book Covers
The image above shows 3 alternate covers for the book Gulliver's Travels. I was tasked with creating these covers using 3 different methods. The first had to focus on typography. The second had to use handmade or physical materials. The last was designer's choice.
Typography Cover
In this first cover I used flour to create a powdery background and wrote "Gulliver's Travels" into it. I chose the powdery background as a reference to Gulliver's third journey. In it, he comes across a country that forces those visiting its ruler to lick the dust off the ground in their presence. I then added small footprints as a reference to Gulliver's first journey to Lilliput, a land of tiny people. Finally, I added a horse print as a reference to Gulliver's last journey to the land of the Houyhnhnms, a race of intelligent horses.
Homemade Materials Cover
In the second cover I took this picture showing a boot hanging over a king chess piece while the opposing king stands atop the boot. This was a reference to when Gulliver aided the country of Lilliput against their enemies.
Designer's Choice Cover
In this last cover, I chose to depict 2 kings of different sizes. These kings were meant to represent the king of Lilliput and the king of Brobdingnag, a land of giants. Although, I also left it open to interpretation, allowing the viewer to also see Gulliver as either of the two kings.
