Fit4Life Detroit Neighborhood Entrepreneurship Project

Fit4Life, 2022

In the Winter semester of 2022, I was a student in the Detroit Neighborhood Entrepreneurship Project class. During that semester I was assigned a small group of designers, and we met regularly with a client and business team to begin addressing the client's needs. In this case, our task was to research, design and pitch a new visual identity and brand for Felicia Maxwell, CEO of Fit4Life. Fit4Life is Felicia's personal training and gym business. Sehrish hussain, Anna Cao, and myself utilized research informed design to create a new color palette, logo, and typography for the Fit4Life brand. We suggested she utilize this brand and apply them to her website (The first series of black images).

It wasn't until the summer of 2022 when I was an intern for the Detroit Neighborhood Entrepreneurship Project (DNEP) that I could begin to refine and implement those designs into her website. I was responsible for researching and purchasing typographic licenses, creating and testing wireframes, and then building the website itself. Additionally, I recommended we build the site on Wix so she may have simple editing access for the future,  and could create her own marketing materials using the brand identity we built and explained for her in a final deliverable PDF style guide.

It was a long, and worthwhile process that taught me client driven design process from start to finish. Additionally, the DNEP program taught me a lot about University of Michigan's relationship to Detroit, and I was honored to be trusted to complete that work.
