When I received this commission, I knew this would be a huge challenge to hold. Not because the technique would be any different but because of the emotional weight it carried for this mother, who has three “angel” babies in Heaven. She sent me photos of her little family but left the incorporation of the three infants + styling to my artistic mindset. Adding floral prints seemed fitting for a memorial portrait because like these little lives, they are short lived yet hold such beauty. I’ll admit painting the radiant beams of light around each little babe’s head made this portrait become a story in my heart.
No words could ever express the honor I feel being entrusted with such a small keepsake of little lives, never to be forgotten. Two boys + one girl with sweet names, who saw Jesus before they saw this chaotic world.
