Fate gives the parents, who have lost a child, a second chance. At the orphanage, they find Vic, a boy who resembles their dead son. Unexpectedly, the boy's real mother Marie shows up and sets an unusual condition for the adoption - to spend a week together in her house in the mountains. The couple agree and soon realize that the mistress is playing a complicated game, the true motive of which keeps eluding them.
