The Miniature House

Play areas are usually made up of different pieces of equipment, each designed for a specific activity and so offering no chance of dialogue. The intent was to design a structure which can be used freely, offers continual stimulation and encourages use of the child’s imagination. The play space becomes the protagonist, simple but constantly evolving so new worlds are there to be discovered. Designed for use outdoors, it is quirky with its fabric walls and corner supporting units, one of which doubles as a chimney. The walls can be organized as needed with fabric modules offering different experiences, for example different coloured windows or the intercom using a cone listening device. Each module is fixed onto the supporting unit with a series of snap fasteners. The Miniature House was designed in conjunction with the Miniature Theatre and can become an open air theatre!
