This installation piece is a cathartic response in search for the meaning of existence, perhaps the frailty of it. It has the Self mourning for its owndemise, whispering in between exhales and inhales. This installation exudes a poetic air in finding the intersection between exit and exist- in this case, of Being. I wanted to offer a reclaim to the seraphic seclusion and serenity amidst the immense distraction. The crux of the piece lies on the suspended structure of the white garment, the jubah, drenched in water, a gesture in its own. Rain as tears as stars. A mattress would be the base of the installation. A decayed stool placed as the centerpiece on the mattress. On it, an exposed photograph on a frame, collecting the drops of water while ruining the print. The mattress connotes a place of resting, a death, a birth. Collecting water in her palms. In her tiredness, she bears the weight. Cups as lips as palms. The air writhing as the poetry hails like a requiem. It offers not just one ultimatum but as said, a renegotiation of spaces and phases- beautiful yet deathly. Read Less
