Working with tissue paper was a fun and challenging new way for me to depict the photo of Marilyn Monroe. Since it was a new artistic medium for me, I originally made the base color too dark. To correct, I added multiple layers to create highlights and shadows. I choose this piece to push myself to try something new.
To grow as an artist and improve, I believe you must get out of your comfort zone and try new things.
