Monochromatic Watercolor

12 x 9 inches
Sophomore year, 2020
Each year my parents buy hibiscus plants for our yard and the big blooms add lots of color in the garden. This piece was one of my early watercolor paintings that I did from observation. I knew that watercolors can be a difficult to work with, but each medium has its pros and cons. This piece helped me learn a lot about working with watercolors and how to use it correctly.

My hibiscus flower was the beginning of many more watercolor pieces as it became one of my favorite art mediums to use.
