Kilauea Lava during a full moon - 2023

After hearing news of the Kilauea crater filling back up with lava we made a point to visit an event that hasn't happened since the 80's. The lava lake was full and could be seen from around the crater rim. With the amount of people it was difficult to retain a spot to photograph and have an unobstructed view without being rude. I eventually found room and settled in to capture this panoramic view of the full moon, stars, crater, and flowing fog in an image that summarizes this amazing event. As always I feel blessed to be able to experience these sudden surprises that arise and I have the opportunity to share with the world.
