First Year Cornell University Fall 2008 - Spring 2009 Professors V. Mulcahy, A. This studio focused on the broader strokes of architecture, teaching one to observe the world and think about design without concentrating solely on the creation of space. First year was essentially a studio focused on reprogramming the mind to begin thinking as a designer; an ability which proved invaluable when designing architecture and the built environment. Projects explored documenting artifacts through drawings and models, creation of wearable devices and objects capable of flight, as well as full scale installations. Using these basic investigations coupled with freedom of representation, the First Year design studio provided me with fundamental design abilities and taught me how to think critically about design, the built environment, the world, and how one interacts with it.
