The Best Cactus Hat in the World

The Cactus Hat was a commission for a Halloween hat, and was intended to be a present! It did not make it to its planned destination, because the buyer liked it too much. "Next time, don't make it as good," she said to me.
Found me a little cactus to talk to.
Materials include newspaper, paper mache glop, toothpicks, felt, modge-podge and acrylic paint.  The removable cap is made of fleece and has ribbon ties.  Removing the cap does very little to change the cactus's appearance so it can be ornamental as well as a hat.

The flowers are especially brilliant-- hand-felted and triple-dipped in modge-podge to give them a properly waxy cactus-blossom look AND feel.

Believe it or not, this was my first cactus hat!
Just responding to all the compliments I get when I wear this hat on the street.
Felt cap has a stuffed hatband for comfort, is removable for handwashing and ties to the cactus with ribbons through inconspicuous holes.  The interior is hollow, like a balloon.
Double-dipped? Hell no, those are TRIPLE-DIPPED.  They are even more gorgeous in sunlight.
Do not head-bang in this hat.
