As the sixth entry in the reknowned series of city-building games, Anno 2205 took a leap even further into the future than its predecessor Anno 2070 and puts player into the role of a corporation leader to compete with other corporations in a race for technology.
In addition to the sixth mainline title in the series, the project included the development of Asteroid Miner, a companion app for smartphones that allowed players to absolve puzzles on the go and collect rare resources to transfer to the main game.
Originally conceived as a management-focused tablet app with access to Anno 2205's data, we started development on it right at the beginning of the production phase. Due to its UI-heavy approach, work fell into the hands of the UI team, so I developed the first prototypes using Adobe's AIR framework.
Over the course of the development the focus shifted more and more towards creating an actual companion game in the form of a quite substantial match-3-puzzler, which required its own dev team. As I was in charge of the main game's UI, I ultimately stepped back into a supervisor role on the app and let the new team take over and finish their work.
