Saturday Night Live Looks Ahead to Season 40

~~Dr. Craig Gelband has more than a decade of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including five years with Organon USA, Inc., where he served as senior medical science manager and senior training manager. In his free time Craig Gelband enjoys watching comedy films and Saturday Night Live. As Saturday Night Live continues its astonishing 39th season, creator Lorne Michaels and other executives at NBC are already looking forward to next year as the show continues to move through a period of transition. In just two seasons the iconic sketch comedy program has lost Andy Samberg, Fred Armisen, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, and Jason Sudeikis, who had a combined 44 years of experience. Midway through the current season, SNL lost longtime Weekend Update anchor Seth Meyers, who left to host NBC’s Late Night. Meyer’s run as Update anchor was the longest in SNL history and his 13-year career at the show ranks second behind Darrel Hammond. Entering the 39th season, the SNL cast featured almost as many part time performers, at eight, as the nine-member repertory cast. As the seminal 40th season approaches, new Update anchors Cecily Strong and Colin Jost will work alongside veterans Bobby Moynihan and Kenan Thompson in maintaining the standard of quality that has allowed SNL to remain a part of American popular culture since 1975.
