"They Told me" is focused an ode to writing and expressing oneself. Being able to write can help clear the mind and it makes sense of the world in the process.  The direction of this piece is to show how quickly time can pass by. What will you do with the life you have been given? Will you do something great? Life is short and you should take every opportunity to do something meaningful.

My name is Meggie Noel and I am a freshman at Boston Latin School. I love to do a lot of activities, most of them are art driven such as singing, playing the violin, painting and sketching but I also love soccer and one of my favorite pastimes is writing. I am also a member of the spoken word club at my school. I wrote "Time Will Tell" to clarify my own thoughts. Writing helps me clear my mind, it is my own way of making sense of the world. When this poem came to mind I was really pondering how "time was an enemy of reality". It literally flies by so fast, we don't even realize how precious it is, and how little time we actually have together. The one question I was really trying to answer was "how long before ... " reality and time intertwine. Hope you enjoy this piece.
