Tea Timer Lite App Redesign

Tea Timer Lite App Redesign

For my first project for my mobile design class, we had to find an app that was poorly designed and create a redesign. I chose to redesign the app Tea Timer Lite. The current user interface is very plain and standard looking. I wanted to change up the design so that it would be appealing to people when they used it. I also wanted to include more information about the specific kinds of teas, such as health benefits, recommended water temp and recommended steeping time.
To start off our projects, we conducted research about the app and potential users and then created personas from that research. Seeing as it was our first time going through this process, we were asked to make just two personas, one with our own information, and one with a potential user:
Next we moved on to reworking the flow and functionality of the app. I created an information architecture set up of how I wanted the application to work. After that I moved on to creating wireframes of the majority of the pages.
After that we moved on to creating paper prototypes. I had a user walk through the whole app and comment on what was working and what was confusing for them. Here is the video from the paper prototype:
After choosing the direction that I wanted to go in for the interface, I finished creating the rest of the comps and then imported them into a prototyping website to create a functional working prototype. Here is the completed comps and the video of me walking through the functional prototype:
And here is my completed design showcasing the redesign of tea timer lite.
