I have, for a long time now, been attracted to the idea of the Concrete Jungle. When I was fourteen I read Raymond Chandler's, The Big Sleep, and fell in love with the character of Philip Marlowe. Chandler has famously been praised as writing like a "Slumming Angel". I seem to identify with Marlowe more than with any other character I have ever read. I have absolutely no qualms about being a Designer, and I love every minute of it. But, if I went to sleep tonight and woke up tomorrow morning in circa 1940's Los Angeles as a Private Eye with the Romantic integrity that flowed from Chandler's mind... Then I'd find that kind of happiness that comes only from walking the streets with your head held high, and your last five dollars in your pocket.

The concept of the City too, is something that intrigues me. Neighborhoods get torn down, rebuilt, and torn down again, but curious remnants from a lost time somehow slip through the cracks, especially in New York City. My photography is often takes on both the characteristics of the detective story, and that of the Concrete Jungle.
