Here is the original photo that I snapped near my apartment in Portland's Sullivan's Gulch.
After a bit of Photoshop leveling and posterizing, we have the image ready for illustrator.
Inside Illustrator, the 'live trace' tool makes vectorizing the b+w image a snap. From there I export to AutoCAD, (for the laser cutter) and stencils are cut from the thinnest acetate I can get my hands on. The thinness makes cutting quick and helps to keep the stencils laying flat.
Boards are primed + painted and are ready for stencils
Painting commences.
Next, the second/background stencil is laid down over the power pole stencil, which is then hit with another layer of paint.
Stencils get carefully removed.
