First project during seventh semester - Architectural intervention in the natural oasis of Ada Ciganlija, design of an educational complex

What is to be connected? Bonded with what? Intertwined with what? River banks that needed to be connected had different ambience, function and materials. Tangled form has pointed out the tip of Ada Medjica as a point around which the rope is to be tighten up in order to connect two shores.
Dominant direction lines of Block 70 and Ada Ciganlija have been interpreted as hooks on which the rope is hung up. The complex is tied to Medjica with secondary direction lines that branch out from the main one. Interweaving is introduced so that the paths wouldn’t snap under visual and artistic tension, while the contents have been moved to Medjica as additional elements around which the structure is tied.
The end goal was to find a solution in accordance with the concept of connection between river banks that are in stark contrast, while respecting the natural entity that is Block70-Ada Medjica-Ada Ciganlija. It was concluded that the question of natural entity had the most weight; therefore, the proposal was to design an Institute for Ecology and Environmental Protection.
