Matching Gears was a personal project of mine, borne out of wantig to make an actual deck of playing cards and my love of drawing robots. I decied to take a simple cardgame (Donkey or Old Maid, a children's card game) and remake it with monsters or robots or something.
Of course I went with robots.
It meant drawing 49 individual robots. 24 pairs+1 without a pair, the evil robot, Loose Cog.
The pairs are either male-female pairs or opposites or just similar in subject.
The whole point of this project, apart from the fact that I got to draw a bunch of robots, was that I could do absolutely whatever I felt like doing - as it is with most personal projects - and it was GREAT:)
I've got the prototype deck printed out as business cards, so they are a bit thicker than usual playing cards. They look pretty damn cool nonetheless:)
