Mae Dining Table
A rainbow in wood
When my friend Meagan and her boyfriend Eric said they were getting Married, I told them I'd build them a dining table.  My new policy is that love can be shown through small objects.  This was a monumental task.  After a lot of ideation I scrapped my initial ideas in favor of a top that made a gradient in wood from maple to walnut.  The legs are oak painted black, with fingers left unpainted to make it seem the legs fit into the top.  The legs fit into machined pockets, and attach using cam locks from Hafela.  A trestle beam was added to ensure rigidity.  The top was finished with oil first and then polyurethane to give a clear coat.
