TRI.HAWK - Thesis Project

TRI.HAWK is a three-hulled, versatile boat concept that was designed to improve the safety of current North American recreational boating. TRI.HAWK's unique safety features enable families and friends to go out and enjoy their leisure boating, watersports, and fishing with peace of mind.

3 main problem areas were identified to increase the likelihood of accidents in North American boating. These involved problems with Stability, Accessibility, and Visibility. The following features were designed to address these areas.

3-Hulled Design to increase stability and reduce the risk of capsizing.

Side Safety lighting strips to increase visibility of one's boat (especially at night). Can be used as a beacon in emergencies.

Quick and easy accessibility to saftey equipment in centralized safety storage area.

Easy access to the boat from the water and dock.

Solar panels supply emergency power to vital systems like the side safety lighting strips.

The following pictures show the model that I built to further realize this concept. It consists of 3-D printed parts, CNC milled MDF, heat-bent acrylic rod and other materials.
