A Pack of 5 Red Packets & 25 Wisdom Sticks
The Lunar calendar is another dating system that is quite used in the country I live in. Quite, because we do not use it in our daily lives, but only to mark the special occasions that our culture celebrates. Moreover, I live in a country where we do not celebrate its new year country-wide, so it has always been something I only mindlessly follow every year.
It was a waste for such a culturally rich event to be disregarded like that by us, I think. And this work is my response to that. 1 out of the 5 red packets in this is a brief peek into the Lunar New Year; it tells the story of the myth behind it, as well as the myth behind something you probably often see in the streets: lion dance. Perhaps, if we know more about the event, we may put more thought and appreciation into it.

It is also a friendly invitation for everyone to participate in the Lunar New Year: it’ll show you one of the things that people do during the Lunar New Year, which is fortune reading through fortune sticks. But instead of wooden sticks and your fortune read, you’ll get paper sticks and Chinese proverbs to hopefully inspire you through the new year.
