How do you reflect the deep connections across a region, separated by national borders and a vast ocean?

This was the central question we sought to answer for the opening title for Across ASEAN, a show about friendships that grew beyond borders of Southeast Asian countries.

A typical world map would emphasise rather than blur the distance of these connections. Hence we opted for a paper texture, where the connections are pressed down, highlighting closeness to a point where one can even see how close we are from one another across an ocean.

With the sticking animation establishing closeness, we experimented with unpeeling across multiple countries to emphasise the layers behind the relationships, revealing the key profiles and relationships of the show.
