Lace.
This lace skull was one of 4 conceptual images that made up my final piece for my end of year Graduate Exhibition at University. My idea was to alter the way lace is percieved and show its qualities and beauty under a different light. This particular piece was completely hand rendered and shaped using remnants of old lace sourced from Nottingham lace market.
The Dove.
My 2nd image in the Lace collection, was the dove. A paper lace doilie, originallu used to place under plates and silver wear to dress a table. When neatly and precisly folded to an original origami pattern it became a beautiful delicate dove. This particular image is what has since then spurred me on to extend on my origami skills and take a deeper look at paper art.
The pair of doves.
Any extension of the lace dove idea. The pair of doves symbolises a united romance and beauty. Once again derived from origami folded doilies.
The Bobbin Balloons.
The 4th Image in the lace series is this silhouette image of a young woman holding balloons made from bobbins. The specially crafted pins that were used to hand make lace in the home.
