Egged has acquired a fleet of minibuses for the on-demand orders. The minibuses will pick up the passengers based on actual demand. The trip route will be planned, carried out and updated in real-time according to the demand. At that time, they where checking out different API's that would produce the shortest rout. I was asked to design the optimal flow for the ordering process and for the ride while considering technological constraints.

The ride is ordered and launched from the Egged app. When searching for a ride to a certain destination, the TOD ride option is promoted, and the TOD flow can be started. Although the app is using an external API, the user experience is transparent, and the user can go back and use other parts of the app while the ride is on its way.

After Egged had approved the UX concept, and my part was done, there was still a need to find a supplier for the API, that would produce the shortest rout and maximize traveling efficiency. After signing in with a company, that has the proper algorithm, the team needed to make some concept adjustments, in order to make things run smoothly. The pilot was carried out in two geographic locations in urban areas.
