Bicycle Rack
This individual project was in our 2nd year studio course. We were asked to pick a location on campus and design a bike rack for it, focusing on contextual fitness. The physical model had to be in 1/16th scale. We had 3 weeks to research, design, and model this project.
For my location I wanted to do the greenhouses out on West campus. This is because of a a few factors. First, the distance from main campus makes it optimal for bike travel, walking is not really an option. The other reason is I had a Horticulture class there in 2020, where we grew sunflowers. Every other day we would have to check on the sunflowers in the greenhouse and take observational notes. These quick stops are my inspiration for my design; focusing on making a "pit stop," for bikes rather than storing bikes for a long period of time.

Time to Sketch!
Iteration Sketch P1
I originally landed on this brick "Bike Stop" design and intended on flushing it out further into a garden space. However, when I went to take measurements of my location, I found out the spot was removed and a giant new building was being built! So I had to slightly change to a different greenhouse location which changed my design.
New Location for Bike Rack
I did away with the brick design, as the new location had no bricks anywhere to be seen, and I wanted the design to feel like it belonged. I sketched then I went into modeling. I wanted to call towards the shapes of the greenhouse while keeping with my "quick stop," theme.
Sketch in place
Fusion360 Model, would go against the building.
