The University of Port Harcourt awarded Bola Afolabi a PhD in Marine Transportation. As well as saving millions of dollars and improving processes, he has implemented several change initiatives.  As a pioneer councilor representing Africa, he was elected to the CIPS governing council in 2004. His appointment to the position of Global President in 2009 was approved by the Supply Chain Management Council and Board.
