I was approached by John from hookahjohn.com to come up with a simple yet intriguing Ad for Hookah exclusive publications. Pressed with an extremely short deadline, I quickly put together a few things, photographed the pipe and accessories and took to photoshop and Illustrator to create a quick, one hour design.
Since i was pressed with time, the quickest way to create an ad was to take existing products that HJ.com sells and quickly lay them out as if i had just received in the mail.
I adjusted the Color temperature of the photo giving it a bit of a cooler color temperature. I believe it was somewhere around 2500K when i snapped the photo. I adjusted it to around 2800K.
Some of the glare was coming out too warm. I decided to desaturate the shiny metal to give it a closer 4100K (cooler) look. The same idea was applied to the white handle of the hose.
I did not like the photo the way it was. I felt that darkening the background, would give more contrast to the hookah pipe, making it pop off the page.
