HYPERTEXTURE PAINTINGS

HYPERTEXTURE PAINTINGS
The Hypertexture Paintings are an ongoing series of intensely textured abstractions that utilize a repeating and meditative approach of overpainting surfaces with tens of thousands of interwoven brushstrokes, applied in superimposed layers to create each final picture. This process results in textures becoming forms in and of themselves while conveying mood and emotion through the direct experience of vibrant color, surface play, and variability of handheld brushstroke presented in close proximity to the viewer.

Overt in their physicality, the seemingly monochromatic surfaces reveal a wide array of colors and hues in their deeply embedded structures.  Paintings have been titled in some instances according to their most prominent final pigments, as in Vermillion and Lemon, and others in a play on the romantic and often humorous titles given to color paint samples provided by manufacturers one often finds in hardware stores, such as Robin Egg Blue and Love's Frost.

This lush series of colorfully saturated paintings incorporate excess palette paint and refurbished wood panels for enhanced sustainability.
