UAVNZ Branding Design

I created the new logo mark and branding guidelines set for UAVNZ in mid 2022.
I worked closely with their board members to create a result that they were all happy with. Follow some of my journey and see the outcome below.
Logo design can be an exciting journey for all involved. I always start with initial sketching of between 10 - 15 designs on Apple Procreate to get a feel for what the client wants, and to get out all the obvious and not-so-obvious ideas out of head and onto a page.

I'll show the client and ask them to choose their three favourite concepts - keeping in mind that we really are just focusing on the ideas stage and not settling on an art style yet.

I then create multiple revisions of these three, merging ideas, adding concepts requested by the clients and working closely with them to ensure the result is something they and their audience will love and connect with.
Adding fonts and colours is something I usually choose to do last, as effective logo designs should always look great in black and white. Again, I gave my clients a choice of a few colours that I suggest, often letting them know which one is my own preference to provide even more value to my services.
The result of this brand was a sleek, icon-heavy logo that consisted of a minimal cut-out design. This slightly abstract design represents four propellers on a quadcopter and an unmanned aircraft, with a bold, all-caps sans-serif font very similar to their old text-only logo for consistency and familiarity.
As well as the logo design, I provided a full branding guidelines document for this design that includes body text for official organisation documents and web use, colour palette and logo treatment.
