Colours Album book Project
I love to go to the library to find hidden gems, like nice artistic books. One day I found one called "Collins Artist's Little Book Of Colour" by Simon Jennings. To motivate me to read it complete and not just collect book over my desk I decided made Tiktok videos about every colour chapter.
The first illustration was about the colour Blue. I sketched several ideas about the sky and marine beasts. When I decided for a Blue Whale (of course). I wanted a dynamic shape for it, but in the same way, I didn't want to make a portrait illustration because I was thinking in an album book style. To balance the long figure, I decided to make a landscape composition. I added a diffuse limit between sky and sea to give it a daydreaming feel.
Considering the time and the composition possibilities, I changed the structure for the other illustrations and diagramed them as squares. The only rule was to use only the variations of the colour protagonist.
I wanted to motivate my community to create compositions considering a limitate palette and the feelings that the palette brings to them.
Sketches
During the creation process of these videos, I made several thumbnails to define the composition. With time I realize the need to use a colour thumbnail to determine the use of the palette and to separate the background and elements in the best way.
