Socrates Videocast
Socrates Videocast is a ‘video podcast’ YouTube channel from Socrates Mag, a sports culture magazine. Established in 2015, Socrates Mag has a variety of content that does not focus on a single sport, produces diverse, interdisciplinary content, and prefers to treat sports culture with its motto, ‘the thinking sports magazine.’
For the logo we designed for Socrates Videocast, we took the famous letter 'S' of Socrates, which stands at the core of all its platforms, and combined it with a global communication icon: a speech balloon. With a slight modification of the bottom serif and the help of the round structure of the letter, we positioned the ‘S’ both inside the speech balloon, and also as a part of it. As our corporate font family, we selected ‘Adieu,’ with its sharp/robust anatomy and slanted/back-slanted versions references to the dynamic world of sports. A vibrant color palette balances the overall tone of voice of the emblem and typography combined. We used multiple variations of the speech balloon form in the YouTube thumbnails to enhance the branding.

Socrates Videocast, bir spor kültür dergisi olan Socrates Dergi'nin YouTube'a içerik üreten yeni 'görüntülü podcast' kanalı. ‘Düşünen spor dergisi’ mottosu ile 2015 yılında kurulan Socrates Dergi, tek bir spor dalına odaklanmayan, çeşitlilik arz eden, disiplinler arası içerik üreten ve spor kültürünü derinlemesine işlemeyi tercih eden bir içerik dünyasına sahip.
Socrates Videocast için hazırladığımız logoda, Socrates’in tüm platformlarda merkezde duran temel markalaması olan kendine has ‘S’ harfini, global bir iletişim ikonu olan konuşma balonu formu ile birleştirdik. S’nin alt kısmındaki serifi düzenleyip, harfin yuvarlak yapısını da kullanarak oluşturduğumuz bu logo ile S harfi hem konuşma balonunun içinde, hem de balonun bir parçası olarak konumlanıyor. Kurumsal font olarak seçtiğimiz Adieu ailesi, keskin/güçlü anatomisi ve her iki yöne yatan (slanted & back-slanted) versiyonları olması sebebiyle sporun dinamik dünyasına bir referansta bulunuyor. Amblem ve tipografide yakaladığımız ton, kullanılan canlı renk paleti ile dengeleniyor. Konuşma balonu formunun farklı şekillerde ele alınmasıyla oluşan YouTube thumbnail kullanımları ise logonun ana fikrine hizmet ederek markalamayı artırıyor.
