Having worked with J.C. Soon before to create promotional assets for his last EP release, he tapped me as his Creative Director for his Alone Together live sessions. We worked collaboratively to develop a unique atmosphere for each new song based around their themes, inspirations, and lyrical content.

I create animated background projection for each song to create a distinct setting on the cyclorama set. The background were developed in After Effects for all songs except the title track. I needed to create a more convincing 3D space, so I wound up learning the basics of Blender specifically to create the warm glowing archways. Check it out: 

All but one of the eight tracks in the session were recorded in front of the cyclorama wall. This next song, The Sidelines, is very vulnerable and intimate so we decided to design a separate set for this song to exist in that matched the vibe. As I provided set dressing for this one, my goal was to recreate the feeling of being in college and living with a bunch of your closest friends. I hung a set of blinds and backlit them to give to the ambience of a warm afternoon in the waning days of senior year before everyone goes off their separate ways into adulthood.

Outerspace samples NASA audio and makes plenty of reference to space travel, so I used archival footage from Mission Control in Houston to develop this backdrop. All of the panels reference real NASA telemetry readings from Apollo missions. You can get a better look at this asset down below, too.

For Sorry, I developed a simple underwater backdrop and played with high contrast lighting in the foreground of the scene.

This logo animation is a simple yet mysterious reveal to announce the new music

These are the cyclorama background assets. For the most part they're long, randomized loops, so you only need a few seconds to get an idea, but for Space (the first one below) it actually incudes the song audio because it several "scenes" with precies audio cues.
