Design and planning was done using Google SketchUp. Templates were created and exported to AutoCAD 2010 where they were used to guide a CNC plasma cutter.
Plasma cutting individual pieces allowed for high precision and the ability to create shapes that could be folded like origami which eliminated the need for many continuous bead welds- opportunities for leaks.
A combination of mechanical benders and hand bending the sheet steel was used to achieve the needed shapes.
The finished steel work before being sent out for hot dip galvanizing.
