The Elements Eyewear Collection
Inspired by Fire, Water, Earth & Wind
This project was done in collaboration with Stratasys. My goal was to use the most advanced visual effects tools and the best AI models in order to explore the limits of Stratasys' multi-material 3D printing technology. The collection was inspired by the natural elements of Earth, Wind, Water and Fire. The idea of chaotic elements swirling around your eyes is an interesting contrast to the cool, calm, and collected disposition sunglasses wearers display to the outside world. I also just really liked Captain Planet as a kid.

Fire Frames
Inspired by glowing embers and blazing wildfires.

Fire Simulations for 3D Printing
Animations were made in Houdini, paused at a specific moment, and 3D printed.

Fire Material Samples
Before settling on a final design, I created material samples exploring various patterns and colors.

Water Frames
Inspired by the flowing ripples of a rushing river.

Water Simulations for 3D Printing
Animations were made in Houdini, paused at a specific moment, and 3D printed.

Water Material Samples
Before settling on a final design, I created material samples exploring various patterns and colors.

Earth Frames
Inspired by crystalline structures and rock formations.

Earth Material Samples
Before settling on a final design, I created material samples exploring various levels of clarity and coloring.

Wind Frames
Inspired by the powerful, erosive destruction of cyclones and hurricanes.

Wind Simulations for 3D Printing
Animations were made in Houdini, paused at a specific moment, and 3D printed.

Wind Material Samples
Before settling on a final design, I created material samples exploring intricate interior threads.

Preliminary Material Samples
These initial explorations were an attempt to understand the material limits of the Stratasys 3D printers.
