Photographs from the location that we received from the client to inform us about the project surrounding, besides the information about the morphology of the terrain and disposition of the trees, didn't give us any inspiration which we could use to develop the images.
Funny enough, what we didn't get in these photographs we got with google street view. Initial sparkle. Panoramas from this location (somewhere near Stockholm) were captured in the wintery part of the year, and somehow the whole setting was really picturesque.
Since we liked this kind of setup, where it's not everything completely covered with snow, we also wanted to show this period of the year where we could see emerged patches of cleaned, raw terrain, and also the half-melted parts of snow on the roofs. Besides this, images still had to translate the freezing atmosphere of these regions.
With the help of mellow diffuse lighting, we managed to get the desired color grading that we were after.
