Welcome to my nineteenth portfolio piece. This project showcases my ability to use Adobe Illustrator's and InDesign's tools to create the assets and layout needed for Talking Type's magazine article. To achieve the finalized images, I had to use the type and shape tools in Adobe Illustrator to create the type and shapes while I used InDesign to create the layout for the article and the pictures that came included with it.

          Purpose: To demonstrate skills and knowledge of Illustrator's and InDesign's tools to create a magazine masthead, title spread and text spread for Talking Type.

         Objective: Use Illustrator's type and shape tools to the magazine assets, and use InDesign to arrange every element into the appropriate spaces.

         Approach: I began by using Adobe Illustrator to create the type, masthead and cover page with the pen, type and shape tools; then I sketched out the potential dynamic layouts for the title and text spreads before coming to the finalized layouts you see today; and finally, with careful attention to file placement on my computer, I arranged the assets in InDesign according to my finalized sketches.

        Project Duration: This project took no more than 2 business days, specifically 3 hours and 50 minutes (20 minutes to brainstorm and sketch the title and text spread layouts, 1 hour to create the masthead and cover, 1 hour and 10 minutes to arrange the title spread and 1 hour and 20 to arrange the text spread).

        Role: My role for this project was that of graphic designer, particularly that of a product and magazine designer.

        Final Product Overview: Using Illustrator's tools along with Adobe InDesign, I was able to create and arrange original assets for Talking Type's magazine cover, title spread and text spread that displays its information in a dynamic, stylized way. The skills used for this project can be applied for commercial and freelance purposes.
