These are journals where professors of art, communication and sociology of the Universidad del Valle write about their interests and projects. Each design edition explores diferent concepts keeping graphic guidelines such as headline, body copy typography and black and white photographies on internal pages.
Santiago Lozano’s photographs* were the main material used in the journal No. 9. This photography material was created for the Colombian feature film “El Vuelco del Cangrejo”. The cover design is an experimental composition of his color image of dead fish, the image was reflected vertically to create interesting shapes. This photographic treatment was also used in some inside pages to create dynamic compositions that work together with the layout.
In the No.10 edition I decided to make a contest where young photographers sent their work. As a result, there was a selection of the best work. I did that selection according to the technical and aesthetic quality of the pieces. This contest yielded great results.
