Reformation Fabrication Image Based Gradient Wall

What's Organic about a Wave
image based wall gradient
We decided to test and develop a prototype for a wall based on an image. Using rhino and grasshopper, we had in mind to use one material to be laser cut. This script would be designed to cut each piece with the ability to fold into itself and connect to a specific neighbor. The wall when back lit would approximate the image as the hexagons help define the grey scale gradient. We realized because of our design that it takes for ever to assemble. The material we choose becomes too brittle as the range of hexagon size approaches the our now known maximum area and the minimum side size. Allowing one script to run our lives was miserable. We definitely learned that multiple processes is the ideal.
