KENZO SS11

'Marras has lately kicked Kenzo into gear, and the anniversary show recognized that fact, with a first half devoted to the new Spring collection and a second half that mixed pieces from the label's vast archive with his contributions from the more recent past. The show’s second half was an extraordinary reminder of what fashion once was, of a certain inventiveness that has gone by the wayside. Marras was looking at the work of Nick Cave’ (style.com)
The prints used in Kenzo were vibrant floral prints; to contrast yet compare with the prints. I used dark, monochromatic floral prints to contrast from the vibrant colors. From the floor to the ceiling, flowers become 3-dimensional with paper / fabric protrude the in the shape of individual petals protruding from the 2-dimensional print.

Marchesa F/W 2012

Chapman and Craig’s inspiration was late-nineteenth-century French painter William-Adolphe Bouguereau’s A Soul Brought to Heaven. Using that same source of inspiration, I used it as the base of my design. The floor is a gradual descent with marble flooring. Noting the darkness of the painting, black marble with gold accents was the natural answer. At the head of the stairs is a representation of clouds with the same gold accents used on the floor.

White model. Concept behind the design is an apocalyptic cityscape. With the popularization of zombies, apocalypse, and the ending world, pop culture has triggered the response and has been riding on it for the past several years. The city is New York City, because there are many films destroying the highly populated city of United States.

Rashomon

Rashomon is a play on different perspectives, and how the truth becomes lost with each perspective told. The concept behind my design is the reveal of the truth, and with that said, it was inspired by an ink droplet onto a glass of clear water. Water is clear, as truth starts out, until each droplet of ink (perspective) creates a cloud that disturbs the clarity of the water.

Yohji Yamamoto F/W 2008

'Yamamoto is known for an avant-garde spirit in his clothing, frequently creating designs far removed from current trends. His signature oversized silhouettes in black often feature drapery in varying textures.' With that in mind, the set is simple to put more focus into the drapery of Yohji's designs. The wrinkled paper reflects the nature of Yohji's shapes, and the drip paint was to elicit the feelings of Yohji's manipulation between hard to work with materials such as leather with jersey.
