Book Design for Children

This book has been copyrighted by National Institute of Design, Andhra Pradesh.
This is the result of the book design course guided by Navleen Kohli. We had to design an educational book for 3rd or 4th graders. The topic was 'our environment'.
This is a 12 page book including a front cover, six pages (including one double spread), back cover and other filler pages.
Back and front page
I chose landforms as my topic for the book because as a child, it is not very interesting to know a lot about different landforms. I wanted to break this notion of landforms being boring. I have tried to show how the landforms are formed through learning aids. If the concept of how the different movements that take place on earth is clear, then all they have to do in the following years is learn what the processes and other terms are called.

Second last and last page of the book
By doing experiments like such by themselves, they will come to know how certain landforms are formed. I also introduced the characters, ie, the Earth, the students and the teacher to create a visual story. This makes the book more engaging for the students to read. I have written the main title of the book and the subheadings with charcoal so as to give a feeling that the child is asking all these questions and to make the content more relatable for them.
The double spread showing different landforms and the activities done by the people.
The books have been printed on 170gsm and 300gsm paper.
